As an advocate for self improvement, with the belief one must continue to challenge themselves and be receptive to expansion of ideas and open to different experiences I decided to take on an intensive drawing challenge. The challenge, to complete a master copy of a Bargue plate utilizing the sight size method. The project was absolutely absorbing. Sight sizing may not be for everyone which is fine but for myself I wanted to give it a shot and try a method that is different from what I regularly practice. This project pushed me outside my comfort zone and tested my current skill sets.
So why did I choose to do a master copy? The purpose of completing such an intensive drawing assignment like creating a sight sized master copy of a Bargue plate is to train the eye, the hand and mind. Aka FOCUS and INTENSITY. While working on this it felt comparable to a training session in the gym working at high intensity level, pushing past a threshold each and every time. It really is an exercise in mental endurance, patience and efficacy. I learned a good deal from this self chosen assignment and fine tuned some of my skill sets. I even took some license and added a touch of individuality slightly varying my version from the original ;)
